Dahi Idli | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

Steamed idli topped with sweetend curd and spice powders.

DAHI IDLI

Ingredients

1 cup readymade idli batter
1 cup curd (dahi), whisked
Salt to taste
2 teaspoons powdered sugar
¼ teaspoon red chilli powder
½ teaspoon roasted cumin powder
Black salt to taste
Crushed black peppercorns to taste
1 teaspoon oil + for greasing
½ teaspoon mustard seeds
Bell pepper curls for garnishing

Method

1. Mix batter and salt in a bowl.
2. Heat sufficient water in a steamer. Bring it to a boil.
3. Grease idli moulds with oil. Pour a spoonful of the fermented batter into each dent. Place the idli stand in the steamer. Cook for eight to ten minutes or till idlis are done.
4. Put some of the curd in a small bowl, add sugar and mix well.
5. Heat 1 teaspoon oil in a non-stick pan, add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
6. Place idlison a serving bowl, drizzle somesweet curd, salt and crushed peppercorns and mix. Sprinkle cumin powder, black salt, red chilli powder and crushed peppercorns.
7. Garnish with bell pepper curls
8. Serve immediately.
