This popular snack from Gujarat is a loved street snack in Bombay too. So simple to make with easily available ingredients and is super delicious! DABELIIngredients4-6 pav 1 cup dates1 cup tamarind2 teaspoons butter2 tablespoon, red chilli garlic chutney1 tablespoon dabeli masala Salt to taste2-3 medium potatoes, boiled, peeled and mashed1 cup jaggery powder¼ cup masala peanuts½ medium onion, chopped2 tablespoons pomegranate pearls4-5 chopped black grapes Juice of ½ lemon1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander leavesSev for coatingMethod1. Heat some water in a deep non-stick pan. 2. Chop dates. 3. Add tamarind to boiling water, cover and cook for 2 minutes. Add chopped dates, mix, cover and cook.4. Heat butter in a non-stick pan. Add red chilli garlic chutney and dabeli masala and sauté for 1 minute. Add ½ cup water, mix and bring to a boil.5. Add salt and potatoes to dabeli mixture, mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.6. Add jaggery powder to the date and tamarind mixture and mix well. Switch off the heat, cool and blend the chutney into a smooth mixture using an electric hand blender.7. Strain the chutney in a bowl alongwith 3-4 tablespoons to the potato mixture and mix well.8. Spread dabeli mixture on a shallow serving platter. Sprinkle masala peanuts, onions, pomegranate pearls, chopped grapes, lemon juice and coriander leaves. 9. Slit the pav from two adjacent sides and stuff with some dabeli mixture and coat the sides with sev.10.
