Dal Makhni Shots

Ingredients for Dal Makhni:
Water (for boiling) as required
Whole Brown Lentil (soaked) 2 cups
Oil 1/2 cup
Onion (chopped) 1 cup
Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
Tomato puree 1 cup
Salt 1 tbsp / to taste
Red chili powder 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder 1 tsp
Cumin powder 1 tbsp
Coriander powder 1 tbsp
Water 1 cup
Garam masala powder 1 tsp
Cream 1/4 cup
Butter 1/4 cup
Green chilies (for garnishing) 4-5
Green coriander (chopped) for garnishing

Ingredients for Tarka:
Butter 1/2 cup
Red chili powder 1/2 tbsp
Cumin seeds 1 tbsp

Directions for Dal Makhni Preparation:
1. In a pot heat water and add soaked dal. Boil until its 85% done. Set aside.
2. In a pot heat oil and add onion. Cook until translucent.
3. Now add ginger garlic paste and cook for a minute.
4. Add tomato puree, salt, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and cook until oil appears.
5. Now add boiled dal and water. Cook over low flame for 20-25 mins.
6. Now add butter, cream and cook over low flame for 4-5 minutes. Add garam masala powder and mix well.
7. Your Dal Makhni is ready. Set aside.
Directions for Tarka Preparation:
8. In a pan heat butter and add red chili powder, cumin seeds and cook for a few seconds.
9. Now pour the prepared tarka over dal makhni.
10. Garnish it with green chilies and coriander and serve with naan.
