Chocolate Malt Drinks | Milo Dinosaur | Milo Godzilla [Nyonya Cooking]

Chocolate malt drinks are highly popular in Southeast Asia, often enjoyed with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and more! I am sure some of you would recall as they are known as “Milo Dinosaur” and “Milo Godzilla”.

As Malaysians, chocolate malt drinks are synonymous to our childhood. We enjoyed it hot or cold any time of the day or even when we are feeling under the weather. These drinks helped chase the blues away.

I clearly remember the times I was served a cup of plain chocolate malt drink when I was unwell during my childhood. Of course, that was not much fun as the real deal of chocolate malt drinks is to enjoy them cold and sweet. Here, I have two recipes of popular chocolate malt drinks sold in Malaysian eateries.

The most popular chocolate malt brand that is sold in Malaysia is Milo which is also widely available in Australia. “Milo Dinosaur” is served with heaps of chocolate malt powder on it whilst “Milo Godzilla” is topped with whipped cream and/or vanilla ice cream. These heaps of chocolate malt powder are added to give extra crunch to the drinks.

As the recipes are pretty straight-forward, you just have to try them to experience their deliciousness. If you are not able to find Milo, seek out Ovaltine or make your own chocolate malt drinks by combining malt powder, instant milk powder and sugar (optional).
