The famous Gujurati sweet and spicy pickle stuffed in between bread slices and batter fried to golden crispiness.

CHHUNDA BREAD PAKODA

Ingredients

4 tbsps ready-made chhunda
8 white bread slices
Oil for deep frying
1½ cups Tata Sampann Fine Besan
¼ tsp red chilli powder
A pinch of turmeric powder
½ tsp coriander powder
¼ tsp cumin powder
Salt to taste
A pinch of baking soda
Chaat masala for sprinkling
Green chutney to serve

Method

1. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
2. To make the batter, take Tata Sampann Fine Besan in a large bowl. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and salt and mix well.
3. Add ½ cup water and whisk to a smooth batter of coating consistency. Add baking soda and mix.
4. Trim the edges of the bread slices.
5. To make 1 bread pakoda, apply 1 tbsp chhunda on to a bread slice and place another one on top. Gently press and cut into 4 pieces.
6. Dip each piece in the batter and gently slide a few at a time into the hot oil. Deep fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
7. Arrange the chhunda bread pakoda on a serving plate, sprinkle chaat masala and serve hot with green chutney.
