CHANA DAL PULAOIngredients1½ cup basmati rice, soaked for ½ hour and drained¾ cup chana dal, soaked for ½ hour and drained 2 tbsps ghee1½ tsps cumin seeds1 bay leaf3-4 cloves½ inch cinnamon stick10-12 black peppercorns1 inch ginger, cut into thin strips + for garnish3-4 green chillies, choppedSalt to taste ¼ tsp red chilli powder1 tsp Tata Sampann Garam Masala Method1. Heat ghee in a pressure cooker, add cumin seeds, bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon stick, black peppercorns, and sauté for 1 minute or till fragrant.2. Add ginger, green chillies, salt, red chilli powder and 1 tbsp water. Mix well.3. Add chana dal and sauté for 1-2 minutes. Add rice and sauté for a few seconds on low heat.4. Add Tata Sampann Garam Masala and mix well. Add around 3¼ cups water and mix well.5. Place the lid on and cook on high till 2 whistles are released and 1 whistle is released on low heat. Take it off the heat and allow the pressure to be released completed.6. Transfer into a serving plate, garnish with chopped coriander and ginger strips.
