Chana Dal Paratha | चना दाल पराठा | Chef Harpal Singh | chefharpalsingh

#ChanaDalParatha is a paratha made with whole wheat dough, chana dal (bengal gram) and spices. This variation of Mix paratha with lentils is popular in Punjabi homes and usually made for breakfast.

Ingredient Quantity
Bengal Gram 1 cup
Whole-wheat Flour 1½ cups
Ghee 1 tbsp
Cumin seeds ½ tsp
Ginger roughly chopped 1 tsp
Green chillies 2-3 no.
Coriander powder 1 tbsp
Red chilli powder 1 tsp
Asafeotida ¼ tsp
Dried mango powder 1 tsp
Garam masala powder 1 tsp
Onion finely chopped 1 no.
Fresh coriander 2tbsp
Salt to taste
Water as per required
Chaat masala a pinch to sprinkle

Method:
1. Soak chana dal over night and , boil the dal by adding salt and turmeric powder.
2. Take the Dal in a bowl, add ginger, green chili, coriander powder, asafoetida, Dry mango powder, garam masala, red chilli powder, cumin seeds, chopped coriander and salt to taste. Mash the dal well.
3. Add onion, whole wheat flour and water to knead into a dough. Keep the dough to Rest for a while.
4. Dust the rolling surface with flour and divide the dough into even size balls .
5. Roll out balls into parathas using rolling pin.
6. Heat a non-stick tawa, and cook the paratha . meanwhile roll another paratha.
7. Cook the paratha from both sides and apply little ghee.
8. When paratha cooked ,apply ghee both sides and cook till crisp.
9. Remove the partha in a serving plate, and cook the second paratha as well.
10. Remove both parathas in a plate and sprinkle chaat masala on both parthas
11. Crush the parathas with palms and serve hot with curd.
