Chana Dal Parantha | चण्याच्या डाळीचा पराठा | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

A scrumptious paratha made using chana dal.

CHANA DAL PARANTHA

Ingredients

1½ cups Tata Sampann Chana Dal
Ready-made dough made using 2 cups whole wheat flour
Salt to taste
½ tsp turmeric powder
1 green chilli
½ tbsp finely chopped ginger
1 tsp cumin seeds
½ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp garam masala powder
1 tbsp freshly chopped coriander leaves
Yogurt to serve

Method

1. In a large bowl, add Tata Sampann Chana Dal and sufficient water, wash the dal and transfer into another bowl.
2. Soak the dal with sufficient water for 3-4 hours.
3. Heat a non-stick pan, add the soaked dal and 2 cups water. Add salt and turmeric powder and mix well. Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes.
4. Transfer the mixture into a ricer, add green chilli, finely chopped ginger, cumin seeds and coarsely mince the mixture.
5. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, chopped coriander and mix well.
6. Take a portion of the dough and shape it into a ball. Dust with flour and spread it to make cavity in the middle and stuff it with a portion of the prepared mixture.
7. Roll the stuffed dough into a small disc.
8. Heat a non-stick tawa, place the prepared disc on it and cook for 1-2 minutes. Flip and cook the other side for 1-2 minutes.
9. Apply ghee and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side till golden and brown specks appear on both sides. Take it off the heat and transfer to a serving plate.
Serve hot with yogurt.
