Caramalized Onion Bread | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

Freshly baked bread load with the flavour of caramalized onions in each bite.

CARAMALIZED ONION BREAD

Ingredients

2 medium onions, sliced
2 cups refined flour + for dusting
1 teaspoon butter + greasing
2 tablespoons oil
1 tablespoon chopped garlic
2 teaspoons fresh yeast
A pinch + 1 teaspoon castor sugar
Salt to taste

Method

1. Preheat oven at 180º C. Grease a loaf tin with some butter and dust with some flour.
2. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add garlic and sauté till golden. Add onion and sauté till golden. Remove from heat and transfer in a bowl.
3. Dissolve yeast in 2 tablespoons warm water in a bowl. Add a pinch castor sugar, mix and set aside to activate.
4. Combine flour, 1 teaspoon castor sugar and salt in another bowl. Make a well, add activated yeast and mix. Add some water and mix till well combined. Transfer on the worktop and knead into a soft dough. Spread butter and knead into a soft dough.
5. Dust some flour in a bowl, transfer the dough, cover with damp muslin cloth and set aside to prove for 10-15 minutes.
6. Transfer the dough on the worktop and knock back to release excess air. Put the garlic-onion mixture and knead well.
7. Transfer the prepared dough into the greased loaf tin, lightly flatten, cover with damp muslin cloth and set aside to prove for 10-15 minutes.
8. Put the loaf tin on the baking tray. Place the baking tray in preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes.
9. Slice and serve.
