रसभरी की चटनी | Cape Gooseberry Chutney | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

A unique chutney made using cape gooseberries is a perfect thing to serve with an accompaniment of your choice.

CAPE GOOSEBERRY CHUTNEY

Ingredients

2 cups cape gooseberries, halved
½ tsp coarsely crushed fennel seeds (saunf)
1 dried red chilli, broken
½ inch cinnamon stick, broken
½ tsp roasted cumin powder
¼ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp dried ginger powder (saunth)
2-3 tbsps castor sugar
Salt to taste

Method

1. Roast the cape gooseberries in a pan for 2-3 minutes on medium heat, stirring continuously.
2. Add 2 tbsps water, mix and mash till pulpy. Add crushed fennel seeds, dried red chilli, cinnamon stick, roasted cumin powder, turmeric powder and mix well. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
3. Add dried ginger powder, mix and cook on medium heat for 3-4 minutes.
4. Add castor sugar, mix well and cook for 1-2 minutes. Discard the dried red chillies and cinnamon stick. Take the pan off the heat and allow to cool slightly.
5. Transfer the mixture into a blender jar and blend to a fine paste. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve with an accompaniment of your choice.
