Cabbage Stirfry/Cabbage Thoran - Onam Special Series No 6 | Indian Mom's Kitchen

Cabbage Thoran is one among the many dishes that make up the Onam Sadya. It is very easy to make at home.

Ingredients:
2 cups shredded Cabbage
1 Onion diced finely
3 pods Garlic
2 dry Red Chillies
3 Green Chillies
1/2 cup grated Coconut
1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
2 tbsp Coconut Oil
1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
Curry leaves
Salt to taste

Method: Heat Oil in a pan and splutter Mustard seeds. To this add dry Red Chillies, diced Onions and Curry leaves and saute till Onions are transparent. Put in the shredded cabbage and stir well continuously for a few minutes.
Blend together the grated Coconut, Cumin seeds, Green Chillies, Garlic and Turmeric powder without using water.
Add this Coconut mixture to the shredded Cabbage, mix well and cover and cook on very low flame for 10 minutes stirring occasionally. Cabbage Thoran is ready to serve.
Please note that water should never be added while cooking Thoran as the vegetable has natural moisture of its own. Also, Thoran can be made of any vegetables like Cauliflower, Beetroot, String beans, Beans etc
