Cabbage Thoran is one among the many dishes that make up the Onam Sadya. It is very easy to make at home.Ingredients:2 cups shredded Cabbage1 Onion diced finely3 pods Garlic2 dry Red Chillies3 Green Chillies1/2 cup grated Coconut1/2 tsp Cumin seeds1/4 tsp Turmeric powder2 tbsp Coconut Oil1/2 tsp Mustard seedsCurry leavesSalt to tasteMethod: Heat Oil in a pan and splutter Mustard seeds. To this add dry Red Chillies, diced Onions and Curry leaves and saute till Onions are transparent. Put in the shredded cabbage and stir well continuously for a few minutes. Blend together the grated Coconut, Cumin seeds, Green Chillies, Garlic and Turmeric powder without using water. Add this Coconut mixture to the shredded Cabbage, mix well and cover and cook on very low flame for 10 minutes stirring occasionally. Cabbage Thoran is ready to serve. Please note that water should never be added while cooking Thoran as the vegetable has natural moisture of its own.
