Broken Wheat Upma (Lapsi Upma) || Preetha Srinivasan || Dakshin Curry | India Food Network

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day & in this fast paced life, we often tend to ignore this meal. However today, Preetha has got a super nutritious & easy recipe that we can easily incorporate in our busy schedule.

Ingredients:
2 tsp oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp urad dal
1 tsp finely chopped ginger
1 tsp finely chopped garlic
1 tsp finely chopped green chillies
1 tsp finely chopped coriander stem
Curry leaves
3/4 cup lapsi
3 tbsp finely chopped beans
3 tbsp finely chopped carrot
3 tbsp finely chopped capsicum
3 tbsp finely chopped onion
Water
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves

Method:

1. In a medium sized pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds. Once they crackle, add urad dal, cumin seeds and sauté till dal turns brown.
2. Add rest of the ingredients, one by one (except lapsi, salt and water) and sauté on a medium flame till all ingredients are well mixed.
3. Add lapsi and sauté on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes.
4. Add salt and enough water to cook the lapsi. I like adding double quantity of water as compared to lapsi.
5. Once cooked, add coriander leaves and mix well. Serve hot.
