Bengali Elo Jhelo Recipe | Maharashtrian Champakali Recipe | Ananya Banerjee (Durga Puja Special)

Bringing to you all a recipe for celebratory sweet we all love this festive season. Elo jhelo is a traditional Bengali sweet which is prepared especially during Durga Puja and Vijaya Dashmi. This old traditional Bengali recipe has been a popular snack during the festivities and it is very easy to make too. So, here is an #easyrecipe for you all to treat yourself with this crunchy and tasty sweet this Pujo. Enjoy this festival with your friends and family over some sweet crunchy Elo jhelo!

Ingredients:
1 cup Refined flour
2 tbs Ghee
Salt – 1 pinch
½ cup Milk
Oil – for frying
1 cup Sugar
2-3 Green cardamom

Method:
Add sieved flour in a bowl. Add salt and ghee. Mix well. Add milk in small portions and knead a stiff and tight dough. Cover and keep aside for 20 minutes.
Knead well. Now take one dough ball at a time and roll it out thinly into oval shape.
Make rectangular incisions on the oval making sure not to cut through
Roll the ends steps and flatten at the edges. Repeat the process to make each elo jhelo and place them on a plate.
Deep fry the ellojhellos till golden brown and crispy. Drain in a tissue paper.
To prepare sugar syrup Take sugar in any vessel and add 1 cup water to it. Place it on flame to simmer. Add green cardamom
Now dip fried elo jhelo to the syrup one by one and place them on a plate. Similarly coat each elo jhelo with the sugar syrup.
