The Klong Toey Market the largest wholesale fresh food market in Bangkok. It is said that half of the food eaten in Bangkok originates from here. Its a fascinating place to explore when you visit Bangkok with a huge range of fruit, vegetables, seafood and meat, as well as lots of Bangkok street food. There are also stores selling clothes and shoes, cooking equipment and kitchenware, catering goods and all other manner of Thai cooking ingredients.The market is officially open from 6:00am to 2:00am, but in reality it is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. The best time to visit Klong Toey Market is early in the morning from about 4:00am to 8:00am. I got there at about 7:30am and by 9am things were already getting quieter. Youll find Klong Toey Market on the corner of Ratchada and Rama IV roads. You can get the MRT Metro underground train to Khlong Toei station, and walk about 5 -10 minutes to reach the market.The markets in Thailand are a great place to get an insight into Thai culture while you travel in Thailand. You can shop alongside the locals and learn what they buy and eat. And the markets are a great place to try traditional Thai street foods, learn Thai recipes and cooking, as well as eat some of the best Thai dishes in Thailand.
