Klong Toey Market (also spelled Khlong Toei) is a great place to grab some fresh food, Thai street food, or take out with heaps of options on offer. There are all sorts of prepared and cooked foods including fruit, vegetarian dishes, meat and seafood, Thai soups, stir fries and desserts. Eating local food is a great way to save money on your Thailand holidays.Klong Toey Market is the biggest wholesale fresh food market in Bangkok. If youve ever eaten in Bangkok theres a good chance your food came from here. It is said that half of the food eaten in Bangkok originates from here. Its a fascinating place to explore when you visit Bangkok, with a huge range of fruit, vegetables, seafood and meat, as well as lots of Bangkok street food. CNN recently stated that Bangkok is the best city in the world for street food. There are also stores at Klong Toey selling clothes and shoes, cooking equipment and kitchenware, catering goods and all other manner of Thai cooking ingredients.Officially the market is open from 6:00am till 2:00am, but in reality it is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. The best time to visit Klong Toey Market is early in the morning from about 4:00 am to 8:00 am. I got there at about 7:30am and by 9am things were already getting quieter. Youll find Klong Toey Market on the corner of Ratchada and Rama IV roads.
