Ashoka pillar consists of 4 lion sitting opposite to each other . It also have Ashoka chakra or dharama chakra with a bull, a horse , an elephant and a lion.
It was taken as national emblem of India on 26 January 1950. It is symbol of power, courage and victory.
It says " Satyamev jayatey" , Sanskrit words from Vedas that means " truth alone triumphs".
