Apple Wontons seem like an unusual combination at first, but they are a delectable dessert that cleanses your palate and refreshes you after the meal.

APPLE WONTONS

Ingredients

1 medium red Washington Apple
8-12 wonton sheets
¼ cup crushed walnuts
1 tbsp brown sugar
¼ tsp cinnamon powder
2-3 tbsps refined flour (maida) slurry
Oil for deep-frying
Caramel sauce
¾ cup castor sugar
2-3 tbsps butter
3-4 tbsps fresh cream

Method

1. Finely chop Washington Apple and put in a bowl. Add walnuts, brown sugar and cinnamon powder and mix well.
2. To prepare caramel sauce, heat castor sugar in a non-stick pan and cook till it caramelizes.
3. Apply some slurry on the two adjacent sides of each wonton sheet, put some apple-walnut mixture in the center, fold into triangle and press to seal. Apply some slurry on the ends, bring them together and press to seal.
4. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
5. Switch off the heat of caramel sauce, add butter and mix. Add cream, mix well and slightly cool.
6. Put the apple wontons in hot oil and deep-fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
7. Place the fried apple wontons on a serving platter. Drizzle some caramel sauce on top and serve warm.
