Plump little apple roses made with pastry looks so intricate and delicate, but is in fact relatively easy to make. Sure to impress your family and friends, this dish is a must-try!

APPLE ROSES

Ingredients

2 medium red Washington Apples
200 grams puff pastry dough
Refined flour (maida) for dusting
Brown sugar for sprinkling
Cinnamon powder for sprinkling
Butter for brushing

Method

1. Preheat oven to 180° C.
2. Dust the worktop with some flour and roll out the puff pastry dough into ½ cm thick rectangle sheet. Fold, wrap it in a parchment paper and set aside.
3. Core the Washington Apples, halve and thinly slice, horizontally using a knife or a mandolin slicer. Transfer on a plate.
4. Trim the sides of the sheet lengthwise and further cut into 1½ inch thick strips.
5. Arrange the apple slices overlapping each other with the round side upwards on the top side of each strip.
6. Sprinkle some brown sugar and cinnamon powder on top of apple slices and fold the other side of the strips.
7. Halve the prepared strip and roll each halve in make apple roses.
8. Place each apple rose in individual silicon cupcake moulds, brush some butter on top and place them on a baking tray.
9. Put the tray into the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and brush some butter on top and demould.
10. Serve hot.
